5 Stars XBOX Component Cables – Perfect!
After reading poor reviews on other knock-off brands, decided to pay the extra money and go with the Monster cables. Works beautifully on my LCD TV. The only complaint I have is the cables are friggin’ tight. You need to push hard to get those component plugs to fit in. I thought it might have just been my TV but I was convinced it was the cables when a friend of mine showed me his bandaged thumbs after making the same purchase.

The image quality you get with these cables is fantastic and a huge step up from the factory composite cables. Just make sure you don’t need to plug and unplug them too often. Like almost all Monster cables I own, these plug in VERY tightly.

Good connectors, haven’t had any problems with over two years of use. You’ll probably also want to get the TOSLink cable to connect your XBOX to a digital receiver. This cable hooks directly into the component inputs of your HD set, and allows you to view up to 720p sources–anything more and the XBOX itself starts to chug.

3 Stars As noted, way too tight. Obviously made by someone who does not own a tv.
Wow, none of the 5 male connections would actually hook into female connections. Had to use a pair of wire cutters (used the pointed end to slide in to stretch the connections, not to cut any wires) to get these to actually slide correctly into the component hookups. Broke a small piece off, so be careful (this was my fault, since I originally was opening the wire cutters to try to stretch them when it was not necessary, actually just putting the wirecutters in is sufficient to stretch them enough). Once hooked up, these are fantastic cables, and the 10ft length is perfect for my wall mounted tv. Would have given 5 stars if anyone at Monster actually would have taken the time to test whether these cables would fit correctly. By the way, Monster is a huge ripoff for most cables, but these can be found on new elsewhere (perhaps an auction site?) for $26.00 including shipping, so look around, since this is a good deal and worth that cost (trust me, I spent $14.00 on one of those 3in1 cables and they caused lines on my hdtv).

I believe these cables will be excellent as most have enthusiastically stated in their reviews. So the only reason I give 3 stars is because of the PRICE.

I JUST BOUGHT THESE ON EBAY FOR $9.99!!!! They are brand new and never opened in original container by a seller with the highest ebay rating.

3 Stars gives you HD output, but has noise
I found that this cord will show diagonal lines that move. They aren’t extremely visible, but on a larger hdtv can be distracting especially if you are watching a movie.

the lines appear in 480p, 720p, and 1080i mode

5 Stars Great cables with little/no noise
Last Christmas I got these for my Xbox since I got an HDTV, and these cables are amazing. The colors look SOOOOO much more rich then composite (which I upgraded from since my old TV only had RF and composite in), and everything is a lot sharper then before too. I saw a review that said there was lots of noise with these cables. That’s not what I saw when I played my Xbox with these. To avoid noise, avoid lots of other cables when routing video/audio cables (composite, s-video, component, and mabey HDMI if theres lot of cables), and don’t coil the cables too. That crates interference from the cable itself.

Also to those who don’t like it not having optical out: suck it up, and deal. Get the Microsoft Xbox AV Pack Advanced (which I also own), and deal with s-video if you’re whining so much. While S-Video only does 480i, it still kicks the crap out of composite. Besides, all decent receivers made today support Dolby Pro Logic II, so you get a kind of “fake” 5.1 surround sound from stereo (basically it tries to guess which sound goes out what speaker, and it does a pretty good job). Just remember to set it to “game mode” if you go the PL II route, or it won’t work right with video games.

Bottom Line: If you get the component Xbox cables, you’ll get awesome video with pretty good sound. If you get the Advanced AV pack, and you’ll get pretty good video with awesome sound. Though I’m recommending you get both, since both are really cheap. That way you can customize what experience you want like I do.

4 Stars Does not upconvert
Go with HDMI or DVI-HDMI if you can. PS3 can not upconvert dvds through this cable, it can only upconvert through the hdmi.

I actually had a difficult time getting this cable to work with my tv. I have an older Samsung hdtv which doesn’t allow 480i in at the component connectors. As such, it took a while to adjust the video settings on the PS3. The second problem was when I went to play an old dvd, it wouldn’t play on the tv because of the same 480i issue. Since component cables are not allowed to carry upconverted signals, the signal from old dvds is 480i, which doesn’t make much sense with getting a PS3 to act as a BluRay, and I assume your only dvd, player.

So my old hdtv has DVI in but no HDMI, so I went with a cheap DVI-HDMI cable from Amazon, and that solved my problems. The audio is routed through the RCA stereo plugs, but one could also use the optical out for audio. DVI does not carry audio signals like HDMI does.

I am no longer using this cable.

5 Stars Amazing Quality!
I have been using my composite cables that came with my PS2 ever since I bought it. When one of the audio cables stopped working, I decided to grab these Component AV Cables instead. DEFINITELY the right decision.

THe quality when watching DVDs is outstanding, and I’ve noticed an overall sharpness in my games. The plugs are very sturdy, even more so than the launch cables. If you are in the market for PS2 AV cables, skip the composite ones and go with these component cables!

4 Stars great product, but some limited support
this is a great product and completely worth the money. despite what many say, that the wii is not an HD device, if you have an HD TV you WILL see a difference in color tonality and clarity.

the only thing to be aware of is there is somewhat limited support on older/imported games. so far ive only found 1 game i have a problem with – trauma center – however, it simply will not display on the TV when using the HD cable. i’m unsure exactly why it has a problem, but the simple fact is that it does, and if it does there is most likely another game or two out there that might as well.
